How I Switched Careers and Found My Path in Digital Marketing with Kraftshala
Before entering digital marketing, I moved across three completely different roles — marketing for a nonprofit, sales, and later an academic counsellor for undergraduate students at a reputed college. Each role taught me something valuable, but there was one pattern I couldn’t ignore.
I kept switching fields.
At some point, I realized I didn’t just want another job change. I wanted career stability — a skill set that would allow me to grow without constantly starting over.
That’s when I began exploring online courses with strong placement support. My goal was simple:
I didn’t want just another certificate. I wanted a program that could actually lead to a job.
During my research, I came across several digital marketing courses. One of them was Kraftshala. After comparing it with other programs, Kraftshala stood out.
Yes, the fees were higher than some alternatives. But the curriculum looked intense, practical, and focused on real industry skills. That convinced me to take the leap.
In 2023, I enrolled in the Marketing Launchpad Program.
What the Program Looked Like
The course lasted about 22 weeks and was completely online, which meant I could attend it from home.
The program didn’t just focus on one aspect of digital marketing. Instead, it introduced us to multiple areas such as:
-
Content writing
-
Performance marketing
-
SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
-
Google Ads
-
Meta Ads
-
Functional, Human Skills, Excel etc
In short, the idea was to expose us to the entire digital marketing ecosystem before choosing a specialization.
Trying Different Paths Before Choosing One
As the course progressed, we explored different specializations.
When I first encountered Meta Ads, I found it challenging because it involved analyzing data and making decisions based on numbers.
Tip: Don’t be afraid of data. Digital marketing today is as much about numbers as it is about creativity.
Next came content writing. My initial reaction was that I might not be creative enough.
Tip: Instead of doubting your abilities, treat unfamiliar skills as a challenge. You might surprise yourself.
Finally, I was introduced to SEO.
Something about SEO clicked for me.
Unlike some other areas, SEO had clear processes and structured thinking. It involved analyzing websites, improving content, and understanding how search engines work. It also had less talking and more doing, which suited my style.
Another interesting aspect was that SEO focuses heavily on organic growth — helping businesses grow traffic without constantly spending on ads.
That was the moment I decided to give SEO a real try.
The Real Learning Began
Once I chose SEO, things got serious.
Suddenly, I was surrounded by new terms, tools, and concepts. From keyword research to technical audits, the learning curve was steep.
We were divided into small SEO groups and assigned daily projects with strict deadlines. The goal was not just to understand SEO but to practice it repeatedly.
The most challenging part wasn’t always the assignments — it was coordinating within the group. Everyone was still learning, and our performance affected our grades.
But that environment also pushed us to improve.
Our first major task involved analyzing and comparing websites and building SEO strategies for them.
Some of the key things we worked on included:
-
Keyword research and intent mapping
-
On-page SEO (titles, meta tags, structure, snippets)
-
Off-page SEO through backlink strategies
-
Technical SEO fundamentals
-
Creating content briefs and optimizing blogs
-
Analyzing SEO reports and traffic data
-
Integrating Google Analytics (GA4) for performance tracking
We even presented our strategy in a detailed presentation to our SEO mentor.

Learning from Industry Experts
One of the biggest advantages of the program was learning directly from industry practitioners.
Many of the instructors had 15–20 years of experience in digital marketing and SEO. They didn’t just teach theory — they shared real examples of how SEO works inside companies.
That’s when I realized something important:
An average digital marketing course may teach you tools and definitions.
But real learning happens when experts show you how these tools are actually used in the industry.
At Kraftshala, the focus was simple:
You learn digital marketing by doing.
And you do it under the guidance of people who work in the industry every day.
Why Choosing the Right Course Matters
Looking back, choosing the right digital marketing course was an important step in my career transition.
If you’re planning to learn digital marketing online, it’s important to find a program that focuses on hands-on learning rather than just theory.
For me, the Marketing Launchpad Program at Kraftshala provided exactly that.
But the real question many people ask is:
Did it actually lead to a job?
That’s the story I’ll share next.
Coming up in the next blog:
How the placement process worked and how I finally got hired.
